Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin Training Hub support the primary care workforce with training and education that:

  • Equips staff with new skills to enhance the care they provide to patients and develop their careers.
  • Supports staff in moving between sectors, supporting improved primary care access and out of hospital care.
  • Supports the maintenance of continuing professional registration by helping staff to meet requirements from their professional regulators.

Our training and education opportunities aim to build on the skills and expertise of our clinical and non-clinical workforce who are vital to providing high quality health services for our communities. STW Training Hub adopt a hybrid approach for CPD training,  by organising at-scale training and education events, along with supporting bespoke training requests from individual staff members, or those at practice or PCN-level.

Feedback from the STW General Practice Annual Training Needs Analysis Survey, alongside our team of Clinical Facilitators, helps to inform our rolling Training and Education offer. Our current, core training offer for 2025 provides staff with access to the following training:

  • Ear Care Training (Foundation and Update)
  • Vitamin B12 Training
  • Basic Wound Care Training
  • Venepuncture Training
  • Travel Health Update Training
  • Spirometry Update Training
  • Mental Health Training
  • Cancer Training
  • Leadership and Management Training

STW Training Hub works collaboratively with training providers and local partners to coordinate and streamline educational initiatives for primary care, whilst ensuring that training is relevant, accessible, and aligned with the evolving needs of both our primary care workforce and patient population. We work closely with our practices and PCNs to identify training gaps and provide opportunities that aim to upskill and empower our workforce, enhance the quality of care being delivered, and contribute to the long-term resilience of primary care services within Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin.

Our Training and Education offer is regularly refreshed and promoted via ICB communication channels including the Primary Care Bulletin and email distribution lists.
