STW GP Vocational Training Scheme (VTS)
The Shropshire VTS is the local training scheme for doctors wishing to train to become a GP.
There are normally around 100 doctors on the scheme, spread across the three years (ST1, ST2 and ST3).
During GP training, residents will have a half-day release from clinical work on a Thursday afternoon. This afternoon is dedicated time for those on the training scheme to meet for educational activities. These include a variety of small group work, seminars, simulation-based education and educational talks from GPs and specialists.
The scheme is run, educationally, by a small team of Training Programme Directors (TPDs):
Dr Emma Blunsum
Dr Rachael Hayhurst
Dr Kate Jones
Dr Tom Kwan
Dr Sophie Lumley
Dr Mike Magill
Dr Clare McDermott
For general queries about the scheme please email stw.traininghub@nhs.net and your message will be forwarded.
